Jennifer Lopez has revealed she sustained a facial injury while rehearsing for her upcoming hosting and performance duties at the 2025 American Music Awards.
The singer and actress, 55, shared the incident through a series of Instagram Stories late Tuesday, May 13, showing visible bruising and swelling on her face. The accident reportedly occurred during rehearsals for the event, which is set to be broadcast live from Las Vegas on Memorial Day.
In one of the images, Lopez is seen holding an ice pack to her right eye with the caption, “So this happened….” A second photo displayed a swollen and bruised nose with redness under her eye and cheek, captioned, “(During @amas rehearsals).”
Another image confirmed that Lopez required medical attention, showing her alongside Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Dr. Diamond, with the caption: “Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
According to US Magazine, Lopez seems to be recovering well and is focusing on her hosting responsibilities. A final image she shared shows her smiling confidently, with no visible injuries, signaling that she’s moving past the incident.
This isn’t the first time Lopez has faced an AMAs-related injury. Back in 2009, she suffered a bruised bone after slipping during a performance at the event. She later explained on The Ellen Show that the fall happened due to a dancer’s slippery, sweat-covered back — a result of performing shirtless, which wasn’t the case during rehearsals.
This year, Lopez not only returns as a host but is also set to perform at the May 26 show. She now joins a select group of artists — including Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, and Pitbull — who have hosted the AMAs twice.
