Lindsay Lohan’s acting career has seen a remarkable revival, thanks to Netflix. Over the past three years, the streaming giant has produced and released three holiday-themed romantic comedies starring Lohan: Falling for Christmas (2022), Irish Wish (2024), and Our Little Secret (2024).
These films, powered by Lohan’s charismatic presence, have not only become fan favorites but have also achieved immense success on Netflix. Each film debuted at the top of the Netflix film charts, with Our Little Secret earning an impressive 32.4 million views in its opening weekend, marking her biggest streaming launch to date.
While Lohan’s Netflix success might suggest a continued partnership, the actress shared in a recent interview with Elle magazine that her acting interests are expanding beyond the streaming platform.
“I always want to make movies like that — things that make people happy and bring people together,” Lohan stated, referring to her Netflix hits. “I love making movies for that reason — for people to escape and find something that they can take into their own life and realize everything’s going to be okay. But with Netflix, I was like, ‘Okay, now we need to be thinking about other stuff.’ I can’t do movies like these forever.”
As Lohan looks toward her future projects, her next big move will see her return to the big screen. Her much-anticipated sequel, Freakier Friday, is slated for release on August 8, 2025, marking her return to movie theaters alongside her original co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis. The sequel to the beloved 2003 film Freaky Friday promises to be a feel-good movie, with Lohan describing the production as “easygoing” and “fun.”

“It’s easygoing,” Lohan explained. “I feel like everything felt at ease when we were making it, and I feel that’s the best way to describe how I felt when I watched it. It felt easy and fun, and fresh at the same time.”
While Lohan’s focus is now shifting beyond Netflix, she isn’t abandoning streaming entirely. As reported by Variety, Lohan is set to star in and executive produce Count My Lies, a Hulu series based on the novel of the same name. If the series is greenlit, it will mark Lohan’s first lead role in a TV series, continuing her journey in the entertainment world with fresh and diverse projects.
