Mike Akard, who was 51 years old, died at home on May 20, 2019. People in his community loved him, and they will always remember how friendly he was and how much he loved his family and friends.
Michael was known for his love of sports and being outside. He graduated from Central High School in 1986 and did very well in baseball and football.
He went to Blountville United Methodist Church. Joe Mike Akard and Barbara McGlothlin Akard, his best friend Aimee Akard, his brothers Allan Akard, Chris Akard and wife Julie, and Pete Akard and wife Amanda, as well as two special nephews, Michael Akard and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins, will all miss him.

Friends and family can visit with the family Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Akard Funeral Home or at the parents’ house at any time. As a mark of respect, Bryan Leonard, David Millard, Joel Bibee, Steve Williams, Chris Carrier, John Milhorn, Todd Rhoton, Tim Agett, and Aaron Pilkenton will carry the casket.
